Shelly Masarie

Ms. Masarie has earned the designation of Accredited Senior Appriser from the American Society of Appraisers. To obtain this respected credential, an appraiser must:

  • Demonstrate five years of full time experience in business valuation;
  • Meet education requirements including a four-year college degree and successful completion of a series of four three-day courses. ASAs must also participate in continuing education to maintain their designation;
  • Pass rigorous tests in business valuation, Ethics and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP);
  • Adhere to standards including USPAP and the Business Valuation Standards promulgated by the Business Valuation Committee of the American Society of Appraisers;
  • Undergo strict professional review of their work product; and
  • Pass an ethics examination and subscribe to the Principles of Appraisal Practice and Code of Ethics.

In the past six years, Shelly has completed over 160 valuations for gift and estate tax, income tax, estate planning and corporate planning purposes. Prior to founding Sage Business Valuation LLC, she was a Senior Financial Analyst with Quist Financial, Inc., a business valuation firm in Boulder, Colorado. Ms. Masarie was also a Senior Financial Analyst and Certified Bank Examiner at the Denver Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City for four years.

Ms. Masarie holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance from the University of Oregon. She was awarded the business academic honorary of Beta Gamma Sigma upon graduation.

She is a member of the Rocky Mountain Estate Planning Council and the Denver Estate Planning Council.
